About the Highland Park distillery
Highland Park has distilled in Kirkwall, Orkney since 1798, making it one of the northernmost whisky distilleries in Scotland. Its house style balances heather-honey sweetness against a gentler, drier peat than Islay’s — partly because Highland Park malts a share of its own barley on traditional floor maltings and matures largely in sherry-seasoned oak. The distillery’s Viking and Norse-mythology-themed limited editions (Valkyrie, Valknut and the wider Viking series) have built a strong collector following, which shows up clearly in the auction volumes behind the table above.
